God is doing big things with the so-called 'small players' - the mustard-seed ministries of the world! This web site aims to equip such ministries so that they multiply their effectiveness through key strategies and technical know-how. God does want man to get the credit. God cannot bless huge corporate ministries that glorify a single individual. Today is the day of the 'worker ants' - the small ministries who will work together diligently, without thought of fame or honor - simply to bring glory to Jesus Christ in the four corners of the globe.
God often gives the same idea to multiple ministries. Ideas such as planting house-churches among Muslims or setting up a church-based school in the African jungle or opening a Christian pre-school in an urban slum. Ministries with the same vision and passion and calling should be able to get together and share their knowledge also. They should not have to: 'reinvent the wheel' - rather they should be able to find four key things:
1. The knowledge they need to carry out the vision that God has given them - both biblical knowledge and other knowledge (e.g. educational strategies)
2. Concrete examples of success. We call this 'global best practice' - the stories from people who have done it before and done it well (whether it be church-planting, evangelism, or holistic ministry)
3. Step-by-step 'do-it-yourself' guides with accompanying pictures, videos, audio and instructions. This might be as complex as 'how to set up an Internet cafe in a remote area' or as simple as 'how to grow lettuce on the roof of your church in an urban slum' or 'how best to use a microphone'.
4. Connections - to funding, to expertise and to other ministries doing the same or similar things, and to forums where ideas can be discussed among like-minded God-honoring evangelical Christians.
No one gets the glory, no one 'owns' the ideas, it is simply a community where each person contributes what they do best and where we become 'vulnerable to each other's strengths'; learning from those who have a particular expertise in a particular aspect of ministry, small or large. When Jesus went to Jerusalem some said: 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth!' - and it is still like that today. God has a lot of brilliant ideas and wonderful people in small villages in the developing world or running tiny struggling churches in Brazilian barrios. We can teach each other. We can learn from the whole world. We can be Global Christians!!
This web site is currently under construction and will fully launch on 1st January 2009 - however if you would like to be involved in putting it together please send me an email
