![]() This seminar aims to equip the people of God to take strong decisive Christian action by peaceful means against both economic injustice on one hand and terrorism and Islamic militancy on the other. It is based on the controversial ebook The Market, The Kingdom And The Terrorists by John Edmiston - which can be downloaded for free (see top right of page). The starting point is the insight that in the end times Christians will be forbidden to both buy and sell - that is engage in market activity. At that point the world will be neatly divided into a totally non-Christian marketplace called Babylon and a totally Christian Kingdom of God. The market and the Kingdom will thus be completely separate and mutually opposed entities. The market will have become lawless and "deregulated" and the Kingdom will be holy and just. The author believes that we are moving in this direction and the a lawless world market is producing both economic injustice and moral repugnance in the Islamic world. This economic injustice and moral repugnance is assisting in the radicalization of Muslims and giving a definable focus and justification to Islamic militancy. Along with religious and cultural factors found in Islam this is producing the current wave of global terrorism. The Christian
response to this should be two-fold: This is not a "comfortable seminar", nor is it partisan politics, rather it is a biblical examination of the spiritual dynamics of our present global disorder and of what Christians can do in response to it. |
